So, I live on a standard size lot. Use the left side of the driveway to store our trailer, main car parks in the right side. Truck lives on the street, unfortunately. Garage used for playing with the kids, which we do a fair bit of.
I park our truck over the left side of our driveway - half of it in front of the trailer, covering the whole left side of our driveway, but encroaching on part of the street in front of the neighbours place. I park there for 2 reasons:
1. 4 days per week we have help in the house - including my 56 year old mother in law, and our kids are in and out of the house with all their stuff 2-3-4X per day, so I don't feel comfortable having them cross the street all the time, so she typically parks in front of our yard. 4-5 days per week, she's here.
2. I want my own vehicle in front of my trailer, as I have had stuff ripped off in the neighbourhood before, and would prefer not to have it happen again. Moving the trailer off the property for the winter isnt' really an option.
I started noticing that if I ran out in the truck for 10-15 mins I'd come back to find the neighbours van moved from the driveway and parked where my truck was. Didn't think anything of it until the neighbour lady comes over and gives my wife an earful about the parking yesterday - beeotching the whole time......and this AM, moved the truck to put our garage sale signs on it, and 2 mins later, van is moved into the spot, right before my eyes - moved from the empty driveway to the street - right in front of my garage sale signs. He has nothing else in his 2.5 lane wide driveway and parks his car in the garage.
It's a public street with no parking passes or anything......
Am I the asshat here or what?
