I'm sure most of you have read the recent news articles about the Canadian "business man" being found in his rented car's trunk down in Mexico, among countless other sensational media relating to murders and drug wars (almost exclusively in border towns).
With this latest episode the media & idiotic commenters are getting even more out of control. Does this drive anyone else nuts?
My mom sent me a link to the recent CBC article about this crap yesterday, stressing I read the comments. I was happy to reply, letting her know I recently booked a trip to Mazatlan for December .
My first time in Mexico was last year. I went alone, rented a motorcycle, and rode around the country for 4 days. Don't speak a word of Spanish, don't know anyone. Had zero problems, saw zero violence, even though I spent one day in/around the city of Tepic, which is apparently one where a lot of drug-related violence takes place. I had a great time and can't wait to go back for more.
What's with this stupid fucking media crap? I'm sick of it. There are people getting randomly shot up in gastown, regular gang-hits throughout Surrey, and yet no one tries to issue travel advisories against driving downtown.
I. Hate. Media.
