I picked up my second bike, a Honda 599 earlier this year, and have put what I consider a decent amount of KMS on it since I got it, just tooling around, going on the Monday rides to Squamish, etc. I've added a windshield and bigger grips so that the wind doesn't buffet me around as much, and I don't feel like I'll be blown off the back.
It's occurring to me that I'd really like to see the rest of our incredible country (as I've never really been much farther East of Alberta), and what better way to do it than exploring by bike. I realize that once you're on the prairies, it's a whole lot of flat nothingness, and that Ontario is miles and miles of miles and miles...
I'm assuming that someone (or a few people) here must have done the trip, and I'm looking for advice/pointers/gear recommendations etc.
-- I'd probably be doing the trip solo
-- I haven't decided whether to do the camping thing, or the motel thing
-- I (as of yet) don't have any kind of luggage system for the bike (but know that GIVI make a 3 hard bag system for the bike).
-- I'm thinking that summer would be the best time to go, but how long should I plan on (trying) to take off of work?
