Heard it on CKNW...he makes some sound points.
Good stuff there.
I was driving off the second narrows bridge to McGill Street yesterday and the speed limit there is something like 50 kph and everyone goes at least 70 kph and 80 kph and over is well tolerated. Anyways there were some cops with the radar gun and some poor old woman got pulled over. She looked like my mom and was just going the regular rate of speed. What a joke, all the cars hammering down to the speed limit to avoid a ticket was a dangerous.
I am more and more getting sick of this bs, I still respect cops but my respect is decreasing evertime I see this BS! I can see myself becoming a hater and I don't like that. But seemingly they are either there to beat you and taser you, kill you in custody, or to ticket you going the traffic flow. A sick joke. The police need to use some common sense every once in a while.
AM730 often reports speed traps on McGill off ramp.
Another spot with extremely low speed limit is south of Oak St. Bridge in Richmond. 90km/h zone doesn't start till past the merge from Sea Island Way, but nobody drives at 60km/h there. It's not a ususal speed trap, but I've seen a cop sitting in the median right before 90km/h zone starts.

Really makes me wonder who exactly comes up with the speed limits???
For example, the Golden Ears bridge, 80kmh. Three lanes each way, virtually straight over the bridge, no turns, no pedestrians, no bicycles, no stoplights. Fantastically lit! Super easy to see everything in front. Massive concrete walls on each side and between you and the other direction...
Could it get any safer? Don't think so.
Now compare that to Highway 10, heading west from 232 & Hwy1.
80kmh, dark, cross streets, one lane each way, no curbs, no sidewalk, twisty corners and oncoming traffic 1 foot away from you.
Yup, same speed limit.
HOW DOES THAT MAKE ANY SENSE?????

"common sense" is an oxymoron - true sensibility is a rare thing
makes ya wonder if it is set so low on purpose.
create a bottle neck and collect the cash.

just keep payin, bitches ...
the police you see on the roads are probably about 30 to 40% of active on duty members. The others you don't see are the ones solving crimes and risking their lives every day undercover or working plain clothes drug units etc. have respect for those un-sung heroes protecting and saving your life.
I ride purely, and only, because it is fun.
I ride because I love freedom, independence, and the movement of the ground beneath me.
I agree with raising the limit, but also agree with much tougher testing for a license. In finland it take 3 months to get you license and you have to take winter driving, defensive driving and other courses. They have low accidents due to the drivers being trained and not every moron being able to drive.
