Let's hear about your favourite cheeses.
Tilamook Cheddar - smoked; 2 year old vintage and plain. They are great, but I don't think you can get them in BC. At Fred Meyer a 2lb loaf of the plain cheddar is $5.99; 2 year old vintage is normally $11.99 for 2lbs but was on sale recently for $8.99. No preservatives, colours or artificial hormones - great cheese at a great price!
2 and 3 year old Gouda from Whole Foods in West Van - the 3 year old is especially outstanding with little flakes of crystallized salt spread throught the firm cheese. A little wedge is around $10.
St. Agur and Bresse Bleu are both from France and are very mild and creamy.
Pierre Robert and St. Andre are absolutely decadent! Grab a freshly baked baguette from La Baguette et L'Echalote on Granville Island, find a nice spot by the ocean and indulge! Bring a knife so you can spread the cheese on the deliciously crusty bread.
Worth a try
Dubliner Cheddar - from Ireland (obviously) this cheddar has a wonderful colour because the high levels of carotene in the grass where the dairy cattle graze. Les Ami du Formage often has it at a great price - $2.99/100g.
