I have been kicking around the idea of a summer trip up to BC with a couple of riding buddies here in Portland. I’ve done two short tours up there previously; I used the Destination Highways book and most of my time was spent east of the Okanogan valley. The last trip was probably 4 years ago and I could go for a repeat.
My concern is the new law allowing impound for 40 over the limit. Great roads and few cars, combined with low speed-limits makes this kind of infraction practically a given, not that I tend to ride in a way that attracts attention.
I could plan a cool trip to Idaho and Montana, Sawtooths & Bitteroots, but I much prefer the mellow vibe of BC to the somewhat redneck attitude of the American West once you get east of the Cascades.
Should we save the BC trip for next year, just see how this stuff plays out? Do the trip on scooters, or Harleys? Just go for it?
