I am looking for some gear purchasing advice. I currently ride a GSX-650F. In the last few years I have been riding, I have always wore two or one piece leathers. I am riding more each year.
Last year that riding has become an obsession. For 2011 I have a few big trips planned as well I will be daily commuting to work about 50 km each way. Last year riding through the Pacific Northwest I encountered every type of weather other than snow and I was often cold, wet or both.
My gear last year started off with 2 piece leathers, which are very tight and do no have the room for additional layers, I have a one piece leather Alpinestar riding suit that is just great until the temperature drops and or the rain starts, my backup suit for the inclement weather was an Olympia Phantom suit, the Olympia Phantom suit has it’s issues the zipper on the arms leak when it rains, the armour in the suit is a joke, in the knees especially the armour does not stay in place, I don't feel very confident in the Olympia providing a lot of protection in a crash. That brings me to the present.
The suit I am looking needs to work in a variety of temperatures as well as rain. It appears that if the suit is going to be versatile for a variety of weather and temperatures it will have to be textile.
Ideally it should offer as much protection as one would have in a one or two piece leathers. Of the suits I have checked out, the one that stands out is a BMW Rallye 3 suit. The armour and protection in this suit is almost on par with a the armour in my leathers and it can handle a variety of weather and temperatures and can accommodate additional
Does any one have an opinion on the BMW suit and or other recommendations?
