I just heard this on CTV news.
Propaganda or what?
Apparently they have to start charging for the border guards service. WTF?!?
The US is broke. Soon you'll get charged $10 for using the roads, and $5 to take a shit down there.

Talk to Argyle. It's a tax that is kicked back to pay for the olympics.
Long Live Shervin Of The North!
We better tax those fokkers, if they wanna touch our soil too.
The budget U.S. President Barack Obama submitted to Congress on Monday proposes to slap a $5.50 fee on every visitor from Canada who travels to the U.S. by air or by sea.
The fee would not apply to visitors arriving in private vehicles.

This is fkd. At a time when pretty much every country needs to be stimulating business activity they are slapping tariffs, duties and fees all over the place. Even armchair economists know this is the exact opposite direction needed.
Everyone knows that you're already paying a US customs and airport fee for flying into the US, right. This is not hot news.
But here, use my matches to light your hair on fire over a $5.50 charge. I'll watch.
Fuck I thought it was weird that you DIDN'T have to pay when I moved to Canada.
I grew up in South Africa, a country smaller than the size of BC, with 6 neighbouring countries, you had to pay a fee to cross the boarder to any of them. And the process was more annoying because it wasn't a drive through service, you had to get out of your car and go wait in line.
So we have to pay them money so the TSA can touch our junk?
I can just see it now, slipping a TSA staff a $20 and asking for the VIP room
Don't think of it as a fee to enter the USA. Think of it as a charge for getting out of Canada, and it's not so bad.
But seriously, this fee will not apply to road users. Rail and airline users will be the ones affected.

... and YVR charged everyone $10+ for "airport improvement" fees. What's the big deal? Just don't go to the States if you don't like it.
