I was always thinking that it would be very nice if a shop like EMS, or Bayside Performance was in Tricity area.
I have EMS Labour Card, and everyone knows that EMS is awesome! I also bought more than several items at Bayside and in my opinion they have been always more than great for me!
I read a couple of threads about this 2nd Gear Motorsport. So I decided to check it out!
My first visit was a week ago, and I was riding my old 98 Katana in cold weather. My rear brake was making some squeaking sound although those pads were installed last season, but fortunately I had a set of extra rear brake pads so I went to the place!
My first impression was,…wow it’s a pretty big place!! It’s almost as big as the old JP Suzuki on Kingsway. It has the 2nd floor for the motorcycle gear.
The mechanic, I think he’s name is Ferd, took my bike in and less than 30 minutes later…it was all done! He installed the new pads, cleaned up the whole brake and the squeaking sound was gone!
He charged me $30 for the job and took time to check my tire pressure then inflate the tires to the right psi! The shop rate is $65/hour. I think it’s pretty good!
I forgot to mention that I paid $20 membership fee as well. They don’t have the Labour Saver Card like EMS. But nevertheless, it was pretty good customer experience!
My 2nd visit was yesterday. I was itching to ride but it was snowing badly so I decided to buy a jacket to ease my pain. When I got there, the owner remembered me and took time to help me trying on all the jackets he had upstairs. The mechanic came out to ask me about the brake he installed. The most of stuff they had were textile stuff and some leather gear, but the price was better than the online price for the most! Everything was on 50% discount for the member. The owner, Dave found me a jacket that fit me perfectly and I paid only $109 plus tax! He said he will have more selections of the gear this season.
So far I am pretty happy with 2nd Gear Motorsport!
