UPDATE ON PAGE 4 - FINALLY BOUGHT THE BIKE
I'm just about ready to pick up my first bike. I've decided on getting a 2008+ Ninja 250 and plan on buying used (most likely off of craigslist).
I've got a few questions. . .
As my first bike, I am unsure what my priority should be
A) a bike thats in great condition with low KM's such as :
B) a bike that has higher km's and could be bargained for cheaper:
C) a bike that has been dropped and has higher km's with mods I like but once again could be bargained: (NOT Rebuilt!)
Although the bikes are all listed for basically the same price, I am sure options B and C could be bought for much cheaper than option A. One thing to consider is since I am a new rider, there is always the more likely possibility that I am more prone to dropping the bike. If this is the case, then perhaps it'd be smarter to buy one thats already dropped? (frame sliders might be a good investment in either case)
What do you guys think? I figured since many of you have bought more than one bike, you could provide some insightful tips on what condition bike will be the best to buy? (obviously good condition is preferred, but is it worth the extra few hundred?)
When the time comes to re-sell the bike, what factors affect the list price the most? KM's or year of manufacture?
Before I buy, I will do a ICBC lien/history check and get the bike inspected at one of the local shops.
Sorry for the billion questions, just trying to make as much of an informed decision as I can before I pull the trigger.
