Hi Guys and Gals,
So I've been a long time reader of this forum, found it really helped guide me as a complete novice to the whole riding scene. Thanks to everyone who posts. Contributing your knowledge and advice helps more people than you realize.
So, as stated, I'm a complete newbie. I bought my first bike, a 2002 GS500 last September, stored it in a garage with fuel stabilizer added. I started it every 4-6 weeks throughout the winter so the battery wouldn't die (was told to do this buy an experienced rider).
Anyways, went to take it for a ride today (my first REAL ride) and the bike started hard, would die when I stopped, and I think I heard a knock in the engine. It wasn't responsive to throttle, and it seemed to me the RPMs were all over the place. The bike will only start if the I open the choke, even if the bike is warm.
Can anyone suggest anything? Should I call a mobile mechanic to come by and have a look? The bike is in Richmond, and it seems like there aren't very many motorcycle mechanics there. I live close to a shop in Burnaby (Imperial?) but I am not sure how I would get the bike there.
