Ok maybe some of you smart phone wizards can help me figure this out.
When I was traveling in the US a couple weeks ago I would stop regularly at starbucks for coffee and to use the free wi-fi.
I have 4 wi-fi enabled devices. A sony viao laptop,an ipod touch and two telus smart phones an htc desire and an lg shine plus.
The problem is the phones would not work on the at&t wifi but the laptop and the itouch had no issues.
My question is are the phones locked by telus? they are roaming on at&t, do they need to be at&t phones to work on at&t hotspots?
The phones did however work on secure networks like hotel wifi netwoks.
I thought this may be of interest to anyone going south and looking to use their phone for net access.
Also what is the best way to get a sim card/data and or paygo plan for a Canadian phone in the states?
I went into a radio shack and the guy said he would sell me a phone for $9 and $2 a day for unlimited calls. Could I just put that sim card in my phone?
