My Interpretation on shopping for bikes on Craigslist. After my shopping experience I found the following to be too true.
The bikes I was looking at was a CBR 125, CB750, CB350, 600 Bandit, FZ600,ect, I dont think one person called a bike shop or took time to see what the market price was. In some cases the used prices were close to new, and in some cases were asking more than what new was.
Sorry to the Surrey folks, But 3 of the bikes I looked at were advertised as "Mint" Never been down. I got to them and they all showed signs of a crash. Cracked faring, Ground footpegs, bent and ground shifter, bent levers. After pointing it out to the owners he says, "I bought it that way" or I forgot about that.
Rare: Means not many people wanted that piece of shit and the manufacturer didnt think so. So not many were made.
Hard to find: See above.
Collector: Means in the owners eye it has some sentimental value. It is and old bike. Thats it.
Could be a Collector: See above. Just an old bike that isnt even good enough to be insured as a collector.
Never seen the rain: Come on! This is Vancouver! If you dont get caught once in the rain you must never ride more than 20 times a summer. Then how did a 2 year old bike rack up 30000 Kms.
Just serviced: Means it probably had something wrong and took it in to get it running better for sale.
New Battery: See above. It probably didnt run.
Price is Firm: Probably wont sell the bike anytime soon unless it is price at fair market value.
OBO: I am gonna ask $1000.00+++ more than market and hope I find a sucker.
Bike has no papers or key: I am sure you can figure it out.
Painted Black: See above.
Has many extras: I want to be compensated for my stupid spending so I will ask $1000’s more.
Never raced: Why would you bring that up if it never was?
Lady driven: Rarely a deal, we all know someone who’s” lady” drove the car with the oil light on or the tires underinflated. Just think of the damage they can do to a bike.
