Just to say thanks to the guys at the store for opening up at 0330 on the 25th June for the Iron Butt ride and then reopening on the next morning at 0100 to receive the same albeit more bedraggled riders returning from over 1900 Kms in under 24 hours.
There were only 4 riders returning out of 5 who set off ( BMW 1150RT, Harley Road King, BMW 800 an RG1200 and the MT01) and despite a poor turnout we were made to feel like royalty (thanks for the hot coffee and pizza on the return).
I never really bought into the whole endurance riding thing, but it was a good experience on a bike that wasn't really designed or outfitted for that type of ride (Yamaha MT01).
Here's brief summary.....ride, stop, gas up, espresso/water/granola/banana, pee and then repeat 10 times (I was cursed that the bike would only go 200 Kms a tankful)
I rode in to the store from Mission, then started the ride up to Prince George, then east on the Yellowhead and south to Kamloops, finally over the Coq and then back from Hope to the store. Wish we'd done it on Sunday as there was more than enough rain.
