hey guys. planning to take my 01 zx6r for a 6000km stretch next week. Vancouver to Halifax. I am probably gonna be taking upwards of 10 days to do this ride. Been riding for 3 years would love to hear some critical long ride suggestions/tips, as well as ask a few questions:
heres the 1st draft of my route.
(im stopping over at revelstoke to visit a friend, and this is the shortest route i could compile. open to make lots of changes)
Im planning to be taking a big chunk in the states. Is that a good idea? Reasoning is the gas is cheaper and the roads are better maintained. But a friend also told me there could be more highway patrol therefore better chances to be caught above the speed limit. any thoughts?
also is it better to take major interstate highways or smaller highways?
Rests and Nights:
should i plan my nights before hand or just wing it? Because of the uncertainty of how long I will be able to ride each day, and unforeseeable conditions, I find it unnecessary to be booking hotel rooms every night of the trip. So how easy is it to just find motels/hostels as I go? If so should I be opting to stay at bigger cities or smaller towns?
Also I read that I should be planning my gas stops, what general guidlines should I follow and is there some routes where gas stations could be farther than 200 km apart?
Thanks for your time and I greatly appreciate any input.
