Canada Day at Noon, the #1 highway was closed down just North of Spencer Rd.
Woman in the Lexus, drunk, hit a friend of mine head on. Another good friend Dave Adams was first on the scene and did all he could, but he was too mess up.
Jana was pronounced dead by the RCMP that showed up to the scene. The woman was taken to hospital, then into custody.
I hope she get's more than a slap on the wrist. Drunk at Noon on Canada Day, really?? Fuck who are these fucking losers?
Jana rode a Blue first Gen FZ1 (blue) with hard bags, loved to tour with it. He was a regular customer of our shop. I got to know him a few years ago as we often ended up at the same coffee joints while out riding. He was a safe rider, always geared up no matter the temps, good head on his shoulders, always a smile on his face. I saw him for coffee about an hour before he passed away, he was telling me about his up coming trips he had planned for this summer, and rubbing it in my face that I don't have a bike anymore.
Anyway, I'm sure some of you caught this on the news, just wanted to let you know who it was. He went by "Jaguar" on islandriders and vibikers here on the island, not sure if he posted much on this site.
Just wanted to say, ride safe guys. Long weekends have always been a time I parked the bike, too many drunks on the road, too many sleep deprived idiots will be coming home tomorrow, and they won't be paying much attention behind the wheel. Watch your asses people.
