Server only has 4 x 2TB hard drives. If I had six, no doubt, I would to raid1 for OS and raid10 for data. Definitely no raid5. I need performance.
So here's the dilemma with four hard drives.
Let's say the OS drive gets constant read/write and so does the data drive, with so many random reads happening, is it better to have a separate raid1 for os and separate raid1 for data for better performance vs just having one RAID 10? With raid10, I'm pretty much sharing the performance with the OS & data partitions but I get striping though. With two raid ones, I get a dedicated raid1 for os and data but with no striping.
What's your input? So raid1 or raid10?
