Long Distance Sportbike - '02 Ducati ST4s
Question: What gives you near sportbike performance with long-distance touring abilities?
Answer: Ducati ST4s. Yes folks, if you've ever wanted to do a multi-day trip to Laguna or a day trip to Winthrop and still be able to stand up straight at the end of it, this is the bike for you! If you don't know what this bike is, it's a sport-tourer that Ducati made in the early part of this decade with all-Ohlins suspension, Brembo brakes and the engine out of the legendary 996. The riding position is reasonably aggressive but not tiring and combined with the beautiful power characteristics of the L-twin, silky suspension and stop-now brakes (not to mention the removable hard luggage, tasteful carbon-fibre bits and included GPS w. mount), she's one sweet ride. This particular bike is in great shape with about 30,000 well cared for miles on her, including the afore-mentioned trips to Laguna and Winthrop. Over the last year, I've had the following work done:
- new chains and sprockets (1 less on the front - has been that way most of its life).
- new Dunlop Sportmax Q2s (GREAT TIRE!)
- new larger diameter clutch slave
- Power Commander III
- heavier rear spring to accommodate a strapping 200 lb rider
- suspension set up by that shop in deepest darkest Abbotsford.
- Dyno work by that dude in Langley (108 at the wheel)
- new Oxford heated grips
This is a great ride and the only reason I'm selling it is that I've been watching a lot of contortionists on TV and have decided I need to twist my body over a K5/6 Gixxer 1000.
$7000 is the price. Period.
Can't seem to post pics so here's a link to my Craigslist ad with a couple of pics. PM me if you want more.
