Well all I can say is "WOW" what a trip. Great ride, including the crazy moments.
Begins with a 8:30 am leave from Sumas boarder. Wanting to cover some quick ground, we head down the I-5. "CAUTION" popo hiding on the over passes shooting lasers down at the hwy. By the time the radar lit up, thought shit, not any way to start the trip. He came screaming down the on ramp on our heels. Heart was pumping for awhile after, feeling for the poor, pretty white car behind us, getting a ticket. Jumped on the #2 threw Stevens Pass to Leavenworth. From there over to the #97 to Ellensberg followed by the Canyon Rd.
This is an amazing road. Starts a little rough, but the chip seal disappears about 30 mins in. Was close to a 100 degrees. Ending in Yakima, we stayed at the Econo Lodge. Not the best area, alot of DTES activity going on as night fell.
Got an early start to the day as we were trying to avoid the storm moving in. Took the #97 to Goldendale. Damn the storm hit hard. Thankfully we just pulled into the gas station when it hit. Thunder moving the ground under our feet. Good time for a coffee.
Well, the rain sort of stopped, (1st time leaving the rain gear at home), so we headed out to the #142, Klickitat Rd which brought us to Lyle. Have to say this ride is the Duffy x 100 times better. Tight twists and alot of them. Scenery is amazing. We played on both sides of the Columbia River as there was little to no traffic except the bridge construction.
Stopped in Madras for a late lunch at Black Bear (AWESOME) food. On again, cont the #97 to Bend where we hung the gear for another night at the Sugar Loaf Inn. (Fabulous room for cheap)
Off to Crater Lake. Leaving Bend early, on the advise of Elevation, took the Cascade Lake Hwy which was amazing, down to the #58.
So much better then a straight line on the #97. Ended up back out on the #97 for a bit ending at Crater Lake. There are no words to describe what your eyes take in. I have seen alot of beautiful things in my life and not much compares to here.
After riding around the lake, stopping to play tourist, "alot", we had to head out as gas was getting low. Was neat to run into Jowii and friends coming back from Laguna. Had a few minutes to play in the snow and then off. Oops busted putting in 87 octane in my R-1 as thats all they had. Wondering if anyone here was heading back up the #97 as a few other BC plates were spotted. Took the #62 back to the #230. Then all around back up to Diamond Lake to the #138 ending us in Roseburg for the night. One small issue. The ZX's front was feeling odd and we discovered a missing bolt for the forward fairing bracket which had the front rattling pretty good. A quick stop at O' Reilly's auto shop we were gone. These guys were great as they had any tool you may need to borrow.
Spent the night here in Roseburg Quality Inn.
Off to Medford to check out some bike shops. Really disappointed in the motorcycle superstore. Cycle Gear and Cycle Barn are sooo much better.
finish the last 4 days later, sleep is calling. The "vacancy" issue to come.
