I rode through there at 7:30 a.m. I just returned from Squamish.
Here's what I saw and my take on the situation as it just happened in front on me, no emerg or rcmp yet.
Just as the road leaves Lions Bay over the bridge.
At the begining of the left sweeper just when it begins to sweep right. One bike into the rock face, what appears as one bike into the divider planted with shrubs. One rider, untouched, a little further down the road. I didn't see any othe the downed riders.
Here's my take, hold the flames. It's a little before 7:30 a.m. or maybe sooner. Little to no traffic. No rcmp to be seen yet. I think the rider in the left or right lane had his buddy beside him and went in to the corner, perhaps too hot. I think he went wide, pushed the other rider into the bushes, did a wobbly and went right into the rock face. Bike a total mess.
I did not stop nor did the rider behind me.
OK, I'm sorry you nearly killed yourself and your riding buddy. BUT,if you can't ride little two lane sweeper, posted at 60 at 70+ kph, in perfect weather, then I'm wondering if you should be riding on a public highway.
It was a beautiful morning, perfect for a little jaunt out to Squish or futher. It's been chaotic lately and it seems as I read the reports it is "rider error".
If you want to flame me, go ahead. I also admit I did not witness the event came on it as it seems to have just happened and my conjecture could be completely wrong.
