I've been reading the forums for the past few months and learning as much as I could. I took the plunge and bought my first bike, a 2011 ninja 400. I have my class 6 since 3 years ago through valley driving school, but haven't had a chance to use it much till this summer. So far so good, no drops, or wipeouts, but I'm learning a LOT each day, and how much other drivers (not all...but enough) suck. I try and be the nicest driver I can when in my cage, especially to bikes, and keep all my defensive skills in use.
Just wanted to shoutout "HI" to everyone, I've probably seen a few of you already out there somewhere, some have waved, others not so much, but thats ok, im still waving at nearly everyone; Unless you're wearing tennis sneakers, shorts, and a wife beater.
Also, a quick thanks to the nice guy on his bike who joined up with me for a few green lights earlier this evening. Didn't get a chance to stop and say hi, but its nice to have that happen, seems safer to be in a group. I hope I didn't do anything too "newbie". Anyone else who sees me around town, feel free to wave, or join up, I'll do my best. I'm always geared up, rain or shine, red Icon jacket with Hit-Air flourescent vest. I'm a flight instructor by trade, so I enjoy teaching, and know the value of learning from all of you out there.
Last thing, quick question: any suggestions on pulling away in 1st gear and not stalling it. I'm doing fairly well so far, but about 10% of the time I either stall, or pull away a little to rough. Again, this is a new bike, and I'm still playing around the parking lot trying to find that sweet spot between power and clutch. Anything above 1st gear, isn't a problem. I suspect the most popular answer is going to be "practice practice practice"
Cheer's (and apologies for the long intro)
