Yesterday, was wanting something to read. Was thinking some kind of mindless fiction/action novel.
Hopped onto Amazon, found exactly what I was looking for. Started calling book stores in my area. One doesn't have it, other is sold out, even f'n Chapters has it in their 'receiving' department, so it won't be out until Friday.
This has happened to me before - I'm all ready to get a good read going, but my conditioning in instant gratification makes me regret
- having to go to the car to get to book store
- find parking
- pay for parking
- talk to annoying staff to help me find my book
- drive home
- most importantly, after I'm done reading my book, the book is now useless to me. It's not like I'm reading today's ground breaking authors, they're just good books to keep me occupied in the afternoon. So I don't proudly display them on my book case, they just take up space. I guess I could've donated them..
So, in comes the Kindle. Instant books. Very portable. Cheaper books. No waste of shelf space. And it's CHEAP.
Irony - I gotta wait till Monday until it's delivered
