I've started wanting a small SM for commutes and non-overnight rides. I'll keep my Z1000 for overnight trips.
Here's what I want in an SM:
* $4000 all incl., in perfect condition
* Good or fair suspensions
* Good resale value
This will be my very first SM, so I may not like it and I may sell it next spring. If I like it, and I may want something more advanced, so either way, I want something that holds good resale value. I enjoy riding on very tight corners, so I don't need a lot of power.
Currently, I can't decide to go between Konker 200 or Japanese 230-250.
Konkers seem to be the cheapest option to buy, I find used on Craigslist for low 2k's. It doesn't seem to be sold in USA, so it's hard to gather info on them...are they reliable, hold good resale value, dealer support, etc?
A few dealers in Washington has non-current brand new ones for the price of used. I found one selling 2009 CRF 230M for US$3400, and another 2009 KLX 250SF for US$3,700. I guess dealer prep is around $200, and RIV fee is another $200.
I find the price difference in sport bikes usually reflects not only the size of engine, but also quality of suspensions and brakes, so I wonder if it's the same this case.
If you know any other good deals, please let me know.
