Saab filing for 'creditor protection' ...

Wow - times really MUST be tough. I just read that Saab is filing for pre-bankruptsy proceedings ...

Probably because who the fark wants to drive a Saab?

It's a small market for overpriced, front wheel drive, unnattractive cars that say "I like poached flounder, and don't shy away from a good game of checkers or Boogle on a Wednesday night. Thursdays I like to carve wood in a turtleneck."

    Or maybe just me?

Yes, small, but those are a fiercely loyal clientele. However, they do not merely carve wood. They carve decoys, of course. Award winning ones.

It's what happens when your car doesn't fit in - too shitty to compete with BMW/Merc/Audi (performance/quality wise), but priced as high. When GM took over, it got worse.

It's kind of what Volvo is battling from a fit perspective..

They're professionals when it comes to emptying a pocket book so if you decide to go that route remember that you are not paying them to be with you.

    You're paying them to leave.

I've always liked the looks of the 9-3 Saab:

Pretty clean and sporty looking IMO. Plus, it's something different.
"Yamaha" - it's Japanese for "fuck your sports car."

Volvo went downhill after switching from rear drive to front on ALL non suv models as a base option.
Mercedes is going that route too. Anyone see the AutoBlog thing about Merc making a front drive SLK?! Fucking blasphemous

Saab had good technology. Seriously, if only they got a proper design department to fix those abominations the things would sell much better. I stare.... only because I can't find ONE consistent design theory on any of their cars.
