In the past, every time I went to Starbucks, Tim Horton's, McDonald's etc. I, like pretty well everyone else, when finished my coffee or meal, picked up my cup, plates etc. and took them to the waste container where I put the garbage into the container and the tray, if I had one, into the tray shelf or whatever.
It dawned on me recently that this is not a good idea. I am taking away someone's job.
If we are all doing this then we are saving the company the cost of hiring an employee whose job it might be to do the table cleanup etc.
I do not take my cup or tray off the table anymore.
I leave it there and hope everyone will do the same.
If we were all to do this, all the time, the companies would be forced, probably, to hire another employee thereby creating a job.
The people who invented these places were geniuses. They came up with a kind of business where the customer spends tons of money on whatever food, coffee etc. is being sold and then the customer does clean up after themselves.
Leave all your stuff on the table and make them clean it up. Help someone to have a job.
