My background - 41, owned a 600 or higher Sportbike for 17/18 seasons.
- recreational rider only; minimal commuting, no track time ever.
- coming off a '08 ZX-10R.
The '11 is underpowered compared to '08. In the off season I intend to get the ECU reflashed +19hp and put on an Akro slip on - ( it comes stock with ti pipes) this drops 12 pounds. When it comes time to replace the chain and sprockets, I'll drop one tooth up front and add two at the rear.
The bike now has 7500K on it all of which is sport riding on WA and BC roads over 9 weeks. Multiple trips on WA Hwy 20, Duffey, & Hwy 3. It comes stock 22 lbs lighter than 08 - 10. That is the most noticeable difference. A much more flickable difference. It is also much more comfortable. However, the seat still sucks and would have to be replaced if you intend to do more than 500K per day which is approximately my current comfort level.
The bike is the epitomy of confidence inspiring. A true rocket out of corners with the traction control. I was able to gradually & noticeably increase my corner speeds this season and wore my tire right to the edge on the left and about 1/8 inch on the right. The bike still has a lot of unexplored potential.
- very poor fuel mileage when railing it. Low fuel light came on at 139K on the best/worst day.
- noticeably tall gearing.
Love the bike and will keep it long term.
