I was very confused at first. Heres a video to help you guys.
What a mess............and iphones are supposed to be simple. BBM FTW!
DON'T STUFF THE CAGERS!
Nah, it works great. Was playing with it last night with a friend. Does photos too.
It's just as fast as BBM, and you can find people via email address instead of asking them for the their PIN, so I'd say that's a usability win over BBM, but otherwise, they are identical. Finally Apple is taking all the best features found in Blackberry, Android, and jailbroken iPhones and rolling it all into iOS5. I'm actually quite impressed with this build. Not impressed enough to stay with Apple, but can recognize a great build when I see one.

I find I'm using WhatsApp and Viber, Tango to text more than using SMS. Just to save on usage. But I look forward to trying out iOS5 I jus haven't loaded it yet. Btw Tango let's you FaceTime (video messaging) over 3G if you don't have it.
Then there's Skype, but I don't like it, poor quality and constant dropped calls.
Viber has actually better quality sound than using regular cellular and you can call anyone in the world free, unlimited call usage, just data from your plan. (it takes about 6-8 seconds to sync up at tye beginning of the call, but perfect after that) Can't beat that! Can you?
I don't get the hype surrounding iMessage...
There is no hype and nothing to get.
You don't need to set anything up. The fact that the OP was confused is .. bewildering. The thing just works between iphone users. Text shows up blue if it's iMessage.. green if it's Green. iMessage works much like BBM, but works within the messaging application - it just uses what it needs to and prefers iMessage if it can use it.
This video is making me dumber.
It's just for people that are thinking "where's iMessage?" and looking for an app.
The advantage over the dozens and dozens of chat clients out there is that it's integrated. You don't need a different app, you don't need a different account or contact list, you just use everything as normal and save on texts. The purpose is not to replace skype or msn or what have you.

They're professionals when it comes to emptying a pocket book so if you decide to go that route remember that you are not paying them to be with you.
You're paying them to leave.
If you need a video to use it, you might wanna look at buying a candybar phone.JK
It's dead simple.
