Actually, first she screamed "FUUUCKKKK!!" to nobody specifically. I couldn't hear her through the glass, my helmet, and earplugs, but I'm pretty sure that's what she screamed. She had just locked up her wheels, and turned her Envoy into a full lock sideways skid, before coming to rest beside my bike, parked at a light.
The light on the Mary Hill Bypass had turned yellow and I had both time and need to stop. I pumped the brake light a couple times out of habit, and had a few looks at the black SUV behind me in the rear view.
It wasn't stopping.
With one eye on the rear view, one eye on cross traffic that was preventing me from rolling through the now-red light, and a third eye looking for an exit, I edged into the cross walk on the far left side of lane position 1. Still in gear, edging forward, I saw her get fully sideways behind me, and I heard the screech of tires.
To her credit, she fishtailed successfully out of my lane and into the right lane beside me. I looked over from the cross walk to see her SUV straddling both lanes. She managed to stop right at the line, and almost made it to the other lane.
After she screamed a silent "FUUUCKKKK", I gave her the 'you OK?'. She rolled down her window, I gave her the 'This close' signal, and she said 'Sorry." She meant it, and it was enough.
We each drove off, leaving behind the putrid smell of her tires. This was today.
