last friday i had to go downtown to get my icbc disability check. i took the skytrain to granville station and got off and go upstairs to the bay exit to granville.
sitting down on the ground leaning against the wall was an old guy in not good health. he was not begging or anything just minding his own business.
i walk by the old guy and said hi to him. then this bully runs up to him and hits him in the head knocking his glasses off. the bully was yelling at him calling him a junky and that he owned the corner. i picked up the old mans glasses and gave them back to him. The bully then came back after the old man to attack him again and i got between them. The bully started screaming at me that i am a junky and a bum when it was clear that was exactly what he was. He then shoved me and threatened to kill me. i pushed him back hard and to the ground. At this point a lady tried to intercede but he shoved her to the ground as well after he got back up. He then pulled out a retractable hunting knife and came after me . i avoided his thrust with the knife and punched him in the chops with all of my 233lbs worth of force i could muster. He hit the ground head first leaving 4 teeth on the sidewalk. The crowd surrounded him and someone kicked the knife away to where he couldn't get at it. By this time the VPD was just showing up and cuffed the bully and stuck him in the back of the cop car. After they took the statments from the witnesses and myself. They thanked me for standing up to the bully and protecting someone that could not fend for himself and warned me what i did was very dangerous, and then they left. I went and got a couple coffees and gave one to the old man and sat with him and we talked about life and traumatic events that changes your life. For him it was loosing his wife to cancer and then having a stroke. and for me it was the crash.
the only thing about this that bugs me a little is the police didn't buy me a boston cream even
though i gave them one for a jubwelldunn.
