what a shame. He was the only fighter that Ali feared and respected.

just saw it in the news as well... he was pretty young... actually a year older than my old man...

Ali saw Frazier as the TOUGHEST MAN ON EARTH..

    rest in peace...

It's a shame what has happened to boxing in the last decade. I hope there is a revival of the good old days.

MMA is the new boxing. I doubt we'll see boxing return to its former glory anytime soon, as long as the ufc keeps gaining popularity

I miss the 90's when heavyweights Tyson, Holyfield, Lewis were in top form. Will never forget Iron Mike biting off a chunk of Holyfield's ear though, that was sort of the beginning of the end.

I agree. The problem I have with UFC is that it's overdone... there are way too many events... way too often... and it's turn
to mainstream TV has given it a WWF feel to it. I think there is lots of phony shit going on to be honest.

I just watched the UFC and was suprised to see they put the main event on early in the production... didn't make sense to me.

Was a quick but reasonable fight. There was very little MMA in it... mostly boxing. Once the champ was down, it took about
3 seconds of being whacked on the ground for the fight to be stopped.

Which one do think hurts to get hit with more??

I found boxing boring as hell. Fuck two dudes hugging it out for half the round. I'd rather see every weapon availiable utilized instead. Pride, still better than UFC IMO as well, brutal kicks and knees to downed opponents. You came to fight, not make friends. Boxing is dancing with the stars with a punch or two thrown.

UFC is capitalizing on the fame, no doubt. Bringing Brock Lesnar into it was a Mistake as well, guys bring his clown antics into a serious sport. He made it feel like a WWE chair match.

It was the only event. Although it was a good fight, an hour program with only one fight is kind of lackluster. That's why I enjoy their pay per view events, usually 2-3 preliminary fights followed by 5 more fights. Makes a good evening. Worth getting together with people and pitching $5-$10 for a night of fights.

Waiting all day for a single fight (like today) really makes the UFC look greedy. I can imagine the cost running ads during the fight... a full hour of show including commercials for one fight. Even if it's free, it's a letdown.

Boxers train with 16oz gloves and fight with 10oz gloves. MMA utilizes 4oz gloves. I've trained both and know a 10oz glove can pack a wallop. The only difference is pro boxers have heads full of cement.

I agree with PeeWee. Boxing is incredibly boring. And for the most part, one of the more crooked sports around. It doesn't help that I absolutely suck at standing toe-to-toe and trading punches.

I'll sit and watch MMA with a group on PPV for an entertaining evening. But I'll watch golf before boxing.
The difference between you and me .........
