finally picked up my 400r today after hours of time at he dealer. fuck it is beautiful and fuck i love it. did about an hour of street riding today and only had to take it past second gear to third once. so different from the xt 225 i rode that i had to shift to third just to get past 20km/h. My riding will consist of purely street riding, and maybe a vancouver trip once a month, man am i happy i chose to get the 400r over the 600 or 250 i was once considering.
now on to my downshifting question. how do i do this effectively? there will be times like a construction zone where i will need to go from 60 to 20 so i will let go of the throttle, wait for my revs to drop to 2-3k and downshift once. now as i start to let the clutch out i try to slowly and steadily apply gas, but my bike will have a hissy fit. it well feel like its trying to go in reverse. what am i doing wrong?
