Recently I upgraded my cell phone and the plan that I had. The new plan has early evenings and FAB 10 unlimited talk and text so it is pretty good.
Shortly after the upgrade I got rid of my home phone so that I can have one number where people can reach me at. For the most part this has been good as well.
However, for outgoing calls made during business hours I have been trying out Skype. I have a Microsoft HD webcam that is about 6 months old. It has one microphone on top of the camera and for whatever reason the audio is a bit 'off' in that it is hollow and some of the words don't get to the other person. This got me on a quest to figure out how to fix it and so far here is what I have done.
(1) Went out and bought a top of the line Logitech webcam with dual microphones that are front facing today. After installing this I was told it is marginally better but still not great.
(2) Uninstalled Skype 5.5 and installed the newest Beta which is 5.7.....tried both Microsoft and Logitech and was told both were a shade better than before but still not perfect.
(3) After hearing that I decided to try using Google phone thru my Gmail account and was told this was better than either cameras on Skype but still not 'phone quality'.
At this point I am looking for other peoples experience....have you used both Skype and Google phone ? Which seems to work better ? What camera are you using ?
