Earlier this year a buddy picked me up and we drove back to his house. (He was driving) He had a seizure at a red light a couple blocks away from his house. Looked at the clock and started timing his seizure. Keyed off the ignition and waited.
He finished convulsing and the light turned green. People started honking. The light changed red again and I hopped out, tossed buddy in the back seat. He was just kinda dead weight at this point. Got in the driver seat just as the light turned green. A car pulled up and asked if he was okay. I said he had a seizure, she asked if she should call 911, I said no I would and I did.
Moved my friends car out of the intersection and pulled off to the side of the road. Dialed 911... Requested an ambulance, told the dispatch my friend had a seizure. She asked if he was on medication, how long the seizure was. Told her my location. And help was on the way so I waited.
A car drives up and says he saw the whole thing from a near by store. Apparently people thought I was abducting a girl, (My friend is male, about 220lbs and was wearing a hat, and sweats looking very much like a guy lol) The guy told me cops were coming in hot and he suggested I don't go any where since they thought it was an abduction. He asked what happened, and I explained to him.
Cops show up and start questioning me. At this time my friend had start to come to and was wanting to go home. Cops question me, I explain what happened. They asked who was driving, I let them know my friend was. They question my friend who is still groggy as hell. He still didn't know what was happening. Then the paramedics came and questioned him. He didn't want to go to the hospital. I told the paramedics his seizure was 1-2 min and he didn't hit his head. They said fine, its his choice. Cop asked where we were going, his house. Let me drive my friends vehicle to his place.
Fast forward to yesterday. Got a letter saying that I had the seizure. WRONG! And that my license is going to be canceled for 6 months. My friend never received any such letter. And I wasn't even the one who had the seizure! Needless to say I'm kinda pissed off. A victim of a clerical error.
Now... what the hell do I do now? I think perhaps I should visit my doctor and get a doctors report? I heard I could request the officers notes on the event. Any help would be very much appreciated. Probably need a lawyer? Any suggestions?
Oh and heres the kicker... ICBC sent me my insurance renewal letter with it.... LOL greedy bastards.
