Well this came up in another thread and I thought this would be a good section to put my van build and anyone else who has done the same.
I wanted a van to haul all my Supermoto stuff and just in general for when I went dirtbiking and also to be able to keep my stuff out of prying eyes when traveling without having to sacrifice what I was bringing. I wanted the ability to bring tools , spares , extra gear , extra parts , BBQ etc and leave it all in a vehicle that was self enclosed and self sufficient yet cheap.
It's like a Ghetto Sprinter race van
So $800 and I bought this retired coffee delivery van.
The back was lacking and it already had a bulkhead separating the drivers compartment from the back area and that was what I was after as there is no way from the front to access the back (or see what is in the back) nor any windows in the rear to see what is inside. Just looks like your run of the mill pedophile van
Here was the rear when I bought it.
So essentially I began to pull out the shelving , rubber mat etc and give it a good clean. Then I wired in a rear battery to serve as power for anything rear of the passenger area that is charged by the engine as I drive but isolated so I cannon drain the vans battery and am never left stranded. I also wired switches on the rear door to control the loading lights on the rear door , the dome lights and an accessory plug for running 12 volt compressors etc. it made sense to put this all on the first door that would be opened once you get to the track or the trail. All lighting was converted to LED to conserve power and increase light output and I have never managed to kill the rear battery even if I forget the rear light on overnight.
Add stickers ......Always a good time
