I take some pride in the fact that I am a conscientious, hard worker, and treat my jobs very seriously. I have not taken a sick day in 30 years. The last time was in ’82 after a truly miserable soaking ride in the depths of winter when I got hypothermia and some nasty related cold/flu.
This week I caught an intestinal flu virus, possibly from my wife who had it a couple of days before me. For this reason I knew what to expect. The symptoms come on fast and strong, so at 2:00pm Tuesday the signs were of impending doom. Had I not known what to expect I would have soldiered on, but instead, I phoned my son to come and collect me from work. Just as well, as a scheduled telecom meeting with our customer in Japan at 5:00pm coincided with my body performing a total uncontrolled evacuation. That would have been so embarrassing, not to mention messy
The following day I logged in from home and worked there. Thursday was back in the office as usual. I therefore missed 2 hrs of work on Tuesday.
I’d like to think that I can keep a hold of my run (no pun intended). What do you think?
