    Transferable Plates for motorcycles?

Just received a call from the Ministry of Transportation asking for a copy of BCCOM's 2003 "Transferable Plates" proposal. I was told that in meetings between ICBC and the Ministry this subject had been raised. Minister Blair Lekstrom (an MLA at the time) was involved in the original proposal process.

The basics around the proposal is you would pay to insure the most expensive bike, have storage insurance on all (hopefully at a reduced rate as the number goes up) and be able to switch the plate to which ever bike you wanted to ride that day.

If the government wants to stimulate the economy this would help.
I would gladly buy a small commuter bike but at the moment the insurance wipes out most of the fuel savings.
Make it happen and people will buy motorcycles. Used small bikes for commuting, Sunday ride only bikes for fun....
    Thanks Bernie!!!!!!!
    Thank you Burnaby Kawasaki!!!!

Oh man, just thinking about the fact that the cost of insuring my second bike (or third) as things are today would basically have been able to net me an old DRZ or KLR to dualsport around on... its like a free bike!
    A free months rent!
    Gas for a year!

I'm with people above... if this happens, I could justify owning a second bike and having valid road insurance year-round.

I sincerely hope this is not just a pre-election ploy, and rather a genuine expression of interest in the idea. When I move back to BC, I will have at least 2 bikes (maybe 3) to insure, so would really like to see this happen.
    Back in BC, yay!!!
