    Probably a member of the Sikh Motorcycle Club. There was an amendment to the BC Motor Vehicle Act several years ago making the exception.

    They have a carbon-fiber/foam mix woven into the material, they're only DOT approved, not Snell... seriously.
    4 posts, 1 ride, 1 crash. That's a good ratio right?

    so helmet laws in pertain to all except those that wear a turban? This really is boggling my mind here.

    According to s. 221 (1) of the Motor Vehicle Act, R.S.B.C. 1996, c. 318;

    (1) Aperson who operates or rides as a passenger on a motorcycle without properly wearing a motorcycle safety helmet commits an offence.

    (2) For the purposes of subsection (1), a helmet that has, by regulations that may be made by the Lieutenant Governor in Council, been designated as an approved motorcycle safety helmet, is deemed to be a motorcycle safety helmet.

    (3) The Lieutenant Governor in Council may make regulations exempting any person or class of persons from the requirements of this section and prescribing conditions for those exemptions.

    The only exception to the Act and Regulations are those riders adhering to the Motorcycle Safety Helmet Exemption Regulation, B.C. Reg. 237/99;

    1 The following persons are exempt from the requirements of section 221 of the Motor Vehicle Act:

    (a) a person who

    (i) practices the Sikh religion; and

    (ii) has unshorn hair and habitually wears a turban composed of 5 or more square meters of cloth.
