Just got off the phone with BCAA. Their travel insurance policy does not cover timed motorized events. I pointed out we are not timed at a trackday. She pointed out that if I time myself, that could be considered timed event...
She helpfully suggested that I pony up the other 45 bux for "Timed event" insurance. Cheap, I thought, and I did so.
She also clarified the helicopter policy. She stated that you are expected to call before you are airlifted. I pointed out how ridiculous that is, and she stated that in general, they understand that if you are unconscious or airlifted due to emergency and cannot call, they will be reasonable and pay the bill. However, she said you should put the wallet card in your leathers, and have your buddy carry your wallet card. Both of you should make an effort if possible to call them first.
I did point out that likely you and buddy are on the track and locked down under a red flag, and she replied that if you cannot phone, you cannot phone, and they understand that emergencies happen.
So, BCAA travel med, $300 deductible, one year, max eight day trip, racing allowed, free heli rides, $105. Cheap. Pay the $45 and be happy.
