Sunday, April 22, 2012
WSBK is reporting that the Effenbert Liberty Racing Team made an announcement late today on the condition of Canadian Brett McCormick.
McCormick had a big crash in race two this afternoon at Assen, said the release. "After checks in the circuit medical center, (Brett McCormick) has suffered a trauma to cervical spine, a facial trauma with a hematoma to the eye sockets as well as a fracture of the fifth finger of his right hand, and he was sent to Assen hospital for further evaluation."
The release from Effenbert Liberty Ducati stated further:
"The result of more checks carried out showed that there was a fracture to the fifth and sixth cervical vertebrae, apparently without neurological complications, so Brett has now been transferred to Groningen hospital, where it will be decided how to stabilize the injuries."
McCormick raced in DMG/AMA for several seasons, including for the Jordan Suzuki team. He was recently elevated to a WSBK ride on the sprightly Effenbert squad.
damn! not the way you want your season to end!
get well soon Brett.
