Feeling bad about this. Talked with a fellow at Princeton Chevron yesterday about 5:00pm about his bike. Very nicely restored Yamaha RD 400. (70’s bike) At one time it was part of the Trev Deeley Collection he says.
So the guy had left Vancouver in the morning and did the Duffy loop to hit Lillooet, Spences Bridge, Merritt and was now fueled to take #3 back to Vancouver. Great to hear the old 2 stroke fire on the first kick. So all seems good, I say take care, good riding and off he goes. Very cool.
Well, not even 45 seconds later coming up the hill heading west I see the POPO got him. This trap is always in the same place – up on the right hand side and you may get a glimpse of it as you pass “The Hut” grocery and bottle depot. If the trap is set and you don’t respect the 60 km/hr or decide this hill is a good place to get past that truck or camper – you’re done. I guess I should have warned the guy, but I didn’t know they were there.
Bottom line. Go easy on Hwy #3 until you are out of town.
p.s. I know the officer who pulled over the rider and he rides a GSXR 1000. Hoping RD 400 rider wasn’t in too much of a hurry and got away with a warning yesterday.
