Just thought I'd share this little gem and get any comments.
In my neighbourhood there's a lot of laneway housing, and one coach and garage is rented out to a guy that happens to have a bike.
No shit, every other day or so he revs his bike in place in the garage with the door open and then idles it for anywhere from 10 minutes to several HOURS. For added fun, for the first month or so he would WOT it up to redline again and again and again.
For the longest time I tried to view this in the best possible light. I said to myself, well, maybe he's working on a cooling problem, and he's a shitty mechanic, and he's trying to get the engine up to temperature to troubleshoot it. Unlikely, but ok I'll play along.
But recently I've realized that this is actually just a pastime, and now I find out that this is reportedly how he "de winterizes his bike".
So what do you guys think? Have we all been doing it wrong all these years?
Is the proper de winterization procedure to rev the shit out of your bike in your garage and sit there and watch it for hours?
Anybody doing something similar and willing to admit it?
