Hello again everyone. It's been a while since my last post.
I am finally finishing my degree at SFU. For my Capstone project, a classmate and I are doing it on Motorcycle Safety, with a focus on protective gear. The overall goal is to raise awareness, particularly to new riders, and hopefully encourage safer riding and wearing good protection. The survey can be found here: http://wiser-rider.com/survey/
The survey only takes two or three minutes, and I really appreciate anyone who takes the time to participate. (A big thank you to those who have already done it).
I also have a question for the forum. For the riders that wear good gear, was this something you have always done, or was there a trigger moment? In my experience, I used to wear motorcycle boots, jeans, leather jacket, leather gloves and a full face helmet. I thought I was wearing pretty good gear until I ran over a manhole cover in the rain while cornering (I discovered manholes come in pairs). I soon realized that regular denim is only good for the first 20-30 feet of sliding. Now I wear armour under my carpenters pants. Has anyone else had a similar experience and increased the protection they wear because of being injured? I'm hoping that some of the newer riders might see this thread and re-think the protection they wear (or don't wear).
