Iím a NOOB and wanted to get some guidance from ADVANCED riders in regards to how to improve my skills, especially in cornering on twisty roads.
To start, hereís my situation.
-Got MSA training from Pacific riding school and got my license last year in May.
-I have a R6s and put on 4,000 Kms so far.
( I know!! I didnít start with the right starter bikes, which Iím totally regrettingÖ.
-Went out on a small group ride last year and followed an advanced rider.
-On a twisty hilly road, I felt going a bit too wide in a corner, leaned in a bit more
thinking like ď yeah! This is when the training comes in handy!.. I gotta lean more!!!
will I make it???!!!!!!!!! Yes I think Iím getting back on track!!!!!Ē
A split second later, front wheel grabbed a small stone while I was leaning and
BOOM!! I went down.
I scraped my knee pretty bad and had to throw out most of my new gears like the
jacket, boots and gloves but the only damage to the bike were : Rear spool being
cut off, had to replace my shifting lever as it was bent pretty bad and obviously
noticeable scratches -_- I still regard I was very fortunate!
-The new season has come around this year, got my bike insured again and went out
on couple of short rides by myself.
- I donít have problems riding around in general but due to the accident happened
last year, I have lost a lot of confidence when it comes to corners.
I donít plan to go on a group ride until I build good confidence, as I donít want to
go down again and more importantly donít want to go down in front of another
Now the question isÖ.
Where do I start to build some confidence in cornering?
-Are there any clips, DVDs, books or courses thatíll give me some direction?
-I feel quite comfortable for bends like the sea to sky highway but can you suggest
any routes/roads where I can train my cornering/twisties?
(I live in Surrey FYI)
Itíd be very much appreciated if you could share some lights on me.
