So an associate of mine shows up at my office to do some business this morning... well aware that I'm into motorcycles. He genuinely knows nothing about them.
"Do you want to buy a motorcycle?" he asks. "Looks just like that crotch rocket death machine you are sitting on in that picture" and points to the picture of me on the gixxer on my office wall.
"Depends, what have you got. What is the story".
"Well, this guy beside our warehouse runs a business... he's moving... and years ago he did a job for someone and they never paid him. Instead, he was given a motorcycle. It's been sitting there for years, and now with him moving he wants it gone. I told him about you, and he said he wants $250 for it."
"Okay.. what is it?"
"Uhm... Lucky strike something".
My eyebrow curiously raises. "Do you have a picture of this bike?"
"As a matter of fact I do... on my cellphone. It's not good photo, but shows it.. it's buried in the corner of this shop."
So he shows me the picture...
It's an early 90's GSXR 750 by the looks of it. Full Lucky Strike livery... and it appers complete. Apparently it has a title, because his son rode it when they first got it some 15 years ago... but it was put away and left to collect dust.
Who knows what the actual condition is. Once you see it in person... but.. things can always be brought back to life.
I tried to not look too excited... I just said I'd have a look after work... and if the guy wanted $250 for it fine I'd probably take it.
Can't wait to see it and see if they have the title kicking around still.
Could be a real nice score. Maybe be a crashed up shitter. Either way, I wouldn't buy it to part it out.. I'd buy it to restore it if possible.
