Okay, so I was gonna post this in the NOOB section since I don't have much bike fixing experience and am still quite a newbie.
But anyway, my bike was running fine today for 20 min and I pulled over and turned it off for a bit to use my phone. Then when I tried to restart, it started rough and I had to give it some gas with throttle.
Recent history: carbs cleaned and spark plugs changed a month ago. new gas tank installed at burnaby kawasaki a week or two ago. have been using it every other day since and its been working fine. washed it today.. no different than any other time I've washed it.
turned off my bike to use my phone
then when i tried to start it again, it started rough
i had to give it some throttle to start it
then i let the choke out a bit too much and it turned off
when i tried restarting it sputtered and smelled strongly of gas
then i looked down and noticed the reserve switch was ON
and i called a friend who rides to google and see if it should be on or off as i couldn't remember
she said off
so i turned it off
and bike started and went a block, kinda rough, then died
now that i'm googling i see it should be ON for normal riding.
anyway my initial thought was that the engine was flooded so i should let it sit for a while
so i let it sit for 30 min
but now i wonder if it woulda kept going if i'd kept the reserve switch on? but then i don't know why it was having problems starting in the first place, back when reserve switch was on
so my friend sent me this bike co-op #
its $100 to join and one free tow
thinking of getting them to tow it tomorrow
cuz i only have free parking from 9-11 am (its in east van by main and broadway)
what to do? thanks!!!
