DL1000's are notoriously lean when they come from the factory - pretty much applies to all model years. This manifests as a "chudder" around 3500 to 4000 RPM and is seriously painful.
I spent a few hours with Mike Stronach yesterday and left with a bike that not only delivers 5 more HP than when I arrived, but it now pulls smoothly and evenly from 1500RPM all the way to the redline. On an ~90HP motor, this is a huge difference.
Mike immediately uploaded a new ECU firmware, then did about 23 Dyno pulls to ultimately fine tune the PowerCommander III-USB to the point where power delivery is silky smooth all the way to the redline. WOW, what a huge difference! Excellent work and thanks Mike
Interesting side note, while the bike has amazing torque and pull across the board, I was really happy with the change to the 6th gear (overdrive gear). This gear is generally only useful at highway speeds (~120km/h) otherwise the bike lugs pretty badly. Yesterday, I was able to run at 60km/h at under 3000RPM and it was really smooth and even with lots of available power when I rolled on hard.
I highly recommend Mike. Excellent service and very knowledgeable, deliverd more than I expected and answered all of by "dumb" questions.
