We are back from 14 days of riding in Italy, Switzerland, and Germany. It was quite an adventure in both riding and culture and we can hardly wait to return.
We shipped my KTM 990 to Europe and now store it at Knopf Tours in Heidelberg, Germany.
It was our first two up trip as in NA we always ride on 2 MC's My wife has approximately300K of riding so it was interesting for her riding 2 up. Prior to our trip we rode to
California and took the Street Masters School for two up riding and that was a significant factor in making the trip both safe and enjoyable
The best part of the course was a the end of the day when all the ret of the class was tired and we got to ride for an hour on the Horse Thief Mile with Walt Fulton and one of his instructors.
Walt Fulton is a recognized name in motorcycling. A former three-time winner at Daytona and team racer for Harley-Davidson, Kawasaki and Suzuki, he was a featured rider in the documentary "On Any Sunday." He is a BMW Legends racer, a professional motorcycle accident reconstruction expert, motorcycle journalist and a private riding instructor. He has worked as an editor for Cycle Guide, Cycle World and Motorcyclist magazines and a contributor and the performance tester for Motorcycle Consumer News. He has logged over a million miles on the road and track.
The KTM was perfect for this trip and the modifications we made prior to leaving made
the MC trip that much nicer. I will list the modification in my next post and then outline our riding experience in Europe, and what it was like in riding in Florence and on the
Autobahn, the Dolomites and my overall impression of how the motorcycle culture is simply different in Europe.
Mistakenly I did not buy Canuck lunch which would have reduced my trip planning and saved me time and money
