With all these threads about what you had for dinner, what type of work you do, what type of underwear you wear, I thought I'd ask about the generosities this fine group of people on BCSB.
So, what have you done to Pay if Forward? Although I haven't seen the movie, I am familiar with the concept. So what have you done? I'm not talking motorcycle related, although some on here have lots of credit in the PIF department, like the Chicken Strip Thursdays and the newbie rides and the basic training for new riders and such. Nor am I talking about giving your best customers and extra 20% off the sale.
For me I am currently helping out a world wide NGO, pro bono. They do work similar to the Red Cross, but they are not the Red Cross. So far I've put in several thousand dollars of billable work, all for free. Just because I believe in their cause and their efforts to help out, both worldwide and locally. They are very low key and shy from publicity and do not solicit donations publicly. All monies to fund their work come from its members and from volunteers such as myself.
I just talked to a member who did relief work in Haiti last year, and in Turkey the year before with the earthquakes. He went there to help rebuild, along with several hundred other members, all on their own dime. Some were on the ground, some were lobbying governments, both overseas and local, some did disaster relief and emergency medical work and supplies, some coordinated logistics, rebuilding, etc.
I am constantly amazed by the work this organization does. It's a long way before I can ever earn enough PIF credit this guy has done.
