Well the karma police bit me in the ass today. You see, some years ago I had a friend sell me his 1983 Interceptor for the sum of a few cases of beer. He bought a new ninja and his wife wanted the room back in the garage. I fixed her up and got my licence on that bike.
Fast forward some years later I too needed some room in the shop for other bikes and found a friend who wanted to get into riding so I paid it forward and gave him that Interceptor and some gear.
Going back a couple days a guy at work said he had a friend wanting to get rid of an old bike so I ask what is it and how much. He tells me it's a 1981 Goldwing and he's giving it away. I was kind of looking for a project for the fall and winter so what the hell. I tell him I'll at least get him a 24 of beer "what's he drink?" Later that day I get a call from 'guy at work' who lets me know his buddy just got the old girl running and he's got the factory service manual, but, he'd like another 24 for the manual since it took him a long time to find. I agreed without hisitation and set up a date to pick up.
Today couldn't get here fast enough since until it's in my garage it's not real, right? Picked up 'Solidsoup' from right her on BCSB and we head to Abby. We find the house, meet the guy and check out the bike. He's a great guy, rides a Harley and has his own micro brewery. The bikes in decent shape for sitting outside a couple of years and yup, she runs with the help of another battery and settles into a decent idle. Guy with bike asks if we wanted to try one of his brews, oh, ok ya twisted my arm and he gets us a pitcher. The cream ale was awesome.
Some b.s. time passes and we load the bike and strap her down. After signing the paperwork guy with bike tells us he's got some more parts to throw in. He comes out with a back rest, a new muffler and some chrome parts I would have totally missed.
Couldn't have done it without you Soup, thanks again for your help. Sorry about the cell phone pics but it's all I got right now. Looking forward to diging into her over the next bunch of months. No time frame just piece by piece. The wife however might get me to finish it this season as she's already claimed the back seat and was planning a camping trip for us, what a girl.
