I have been hesitant to write about my meeting on July 13th with the Superintendent of Motor Vehicles staff mostly because in reality there is nothing to report other than they plan to go forward.
The meeting revolved around talking about and discussing the questions at the end of the original proposal (find it on the BCCOM website) I did not give opinions on many of them as I explained to them I am still getting feedback from members and motorcyclists alike. I will have my submission in a week before the deadline so as to give time to all to submit.
One positive note was that because there are not enough schools at this time to have the province become mandatory training they will be looking at, through ICBC, some form of incentive plan for taking training. What that is to look like I am not sure.
Something disturbing I was told during the meeting was that there will be no public consultation regarding these proposed changes. You can read the proposal from the Justice Ministry on the BCCOM website. I would suggest an email to Minister Bond saying that as a motorcyclists you expect input into this process and attach your submission to it. I think it is time to get political so write on...
